Prices are supplied by partner installers, include GST and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate (and small-scale technology certificates for solar) for eligible installations, and are current at the time of publishing. They can change without notice. Extra costs may apply for non-standard installs, such as switchboard upgrades, three-phase work, long cable runs, double-storey access or roof type. Your installer confirms everything in a written quote before any work starts. Product images are supplied by manufacturers and are for illustration.

Rebates guide

Rebates Victorian homes can claim

Federal and Victorian programs can cut the cost of batteries, solar and efficient heating and cooling. Some can be combined. Your installer checks your eligibility and applies them to your quote.

Federal · all of Australia

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

An upfront discount on an eligible home battery installed with new or existing solar. It's paid through certificates (STCs), and your installer takes it off your price.

  • Full rate on the first 14kWh of usable capacity, 60% on 14–28kWh and 15% on 28–50kWh
  • Value depends on your install date, and steps down every six months
  • No income test. Batteries must be on the approved list and installed by an accredited installer

Solar Homes solar panel rebate

Up to $1,400 off a solar panel system, with an option for an equivalent interest-free loan. Available to owner-occupiers and rental properties.

  • Combined household income under $150,000 a year (from 1 July 2026)
  • Must use a Solar Victoria authorised retailer
  • Solar hot water and heat pump rebates are also available

Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU)

Discounts on energy-efficient upgrades such as reverse-cycle heating and cooling and heat pump hot water, applied by an accredited VEU provider.

  • No income test. Homes and businesses can apply
  • From 30 September 2026 there's a minimum co-payment: $1,000 for multi-splits under 10kW cooling, $3,000 for ducted and larger multi-splits
  • The discount depends on the system, its capacity and what it replaces

Federal · all of Australia

Small-scale solar certificates (STCs)

The long-running federal solar incentive. Solar systems up to 100kW earn certificates that installers take off your price.

  • Already included in our solar + battery package prices
  • Reduces every January until the scheme ends in 2030
  • Can be combined with the Solar Homes rebate

Why timing matters

The battery rebate is based on the date your battery is installed. On 1 January 2027 its factor drops from 6.8 to 5.7. That's about 16% less rebate, or around 23 fewer certificates on a 25kWh battery.

Why a battery

How a battery and aircon cut your bills

  • Store your solar

Keep the solar power you'd otherwise export for a few cents and use it at night instead of buying it back from the grid.

  • Skip the evening peak

On time-of-use plans, evening power costs the most. Running your aircon from the battery during those hours avoids peak rates.

  • Cool and heat with one system

Reverse-cycle split systems cool in summer and heat in winter, an efficient electric alternative to gas heating.

Savings depend on your usage, tariff, solar system size and how you run your appliances. Your installer can estimate savings for your home.

FAQ

Common questions

Can't find your answer? Ask the installer when they call, or start a free quote.

Is Vic Energy Deals an installer?

No. We're an independent third-party referral service. We review active offers from top-rated installers in Victoria, shortlist the best ones and pass your enquiry to the approved partner seller offering the deal you choose. Your quote, contract, installation and warranty are all with that installer.

How do you make money?

Partner installers may pay us a referral fee when we pass on an enquiry. Using our service is free for you. Prices shown are set by the partner installers.

Are the prices final?

Prices are for a standard installation at an eligible property, after the federal battery rebate. The installer confirms your final price in a written quote after checking your home. Extras such as switchboard upgrades or three-phase work may cost more.

Can I combine rebates?

Often, yes. For example, the federal battery rebate has no income test and can sit alongside the Solar Homes solar panel rebate or a VEU discount on heating and cooling, if you're eligible for each. Your installer checks this and shows each rebate on your quote.

How does the battery rebate work?

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program gives an upfront discount on eligible batteries, which the installer applies to your price. The amount depends on battery size and the date the battery is installed. It's scheduled to reduce again on 1 January 2027, so installations completed before then get the current rate.

Who will contact me?

The partner installer offering the deal you pick, by phone, SMS or email. If you pick "not sure", we may pass your details to up to three partner installers so you can compare. We tell you who they are on request.

How do I stop being contacted?

Reply STOP to any SMS, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us using the details below and we'll remove you and tell our partners to do the same.
